Hans Schnitzler (1968) is a philosopher, author and publicist. His essays and opinions appear in several leading Dutch and Belgian media, with the influence of digitalisation on our daily life as a central theme. In the beginning of 2015, his new essay The digital proletariat will be published by publishing house De Bezige Bij.

Besides the obvious benefits these connected devices have, there are hidden downsides as well. Do big multinationals and governments profit more from our technology than we do ourselves? Can we keep up with the incredible pace with which these technologies develop?
In a unique Tegenlicht session, Yuri van Geest (tech optimist and founder of Singularity University NL) will discuss these questions with philosopher and tech critic Hans Schnitzler. Responding to short fragments of VPRO Tegenlicht (VPRO Backlight), Van Geest and Schnitzler will investigate the unlimited possibilities and possible limits of technological development.
