Frans Brom is Head of Technology Assessment (Rathenau Instituut) and Professor in the Ethics of Technology Assessment (Utrecht University). Frans is chair of the Wageningen University committee on scientific integrity, chair of the Subcommittee on Ethics and Societal Aspects of the Netherlands Commission on Genetic Modification and Chair of the Global Research Ethics Advisory Group of Unilever. He holds a PhD in ethics.
His research focuses on the impact of science, technology and innovation and on the interaction between ethics and political theory, with a special interest in public morality and the role of trust in pluralistic democratic societies.
