Manfred Spitzer
Prof. dr. dr. Manfred Spitzer is one of Germany’s most important memory
researchers. He studied medicine, psychology and philosophy, was a
visiting professor at Harvard University and is the Medical Director of
the Psychiatric University Clinic in Ulm. At Border Sessions he will
talk about his book Digitale Demenz [Digital Dementia].

Digital dementia
Much of our brainwork has
been taken over by the internet, computers, navigation and the smart
phone. Children spend more time on social media, games and television
than they spend at school. Manfred Spitzer is following these
developments with much concern: our memory is withering. Using alarming
scientific research he warns against ‘digital dementia’; the more we use
digital media, the more our memory deteriorates.
